The engineering behind KRP
Lay Dynamics is led by the Lay brothers, who grew up on the Basque coast. Chief engineer Alain Lay brings decades of experience perfecting watercraft; president Thierry Lay brings international experience launching products in many markets.

Alain Lay, chief engineer
Alain Lay has more than 30 years of experience preparing personal watercraft for championships in the United States, Europe and the world. He was Kawasaki’s official performance engineer while the Kawasaki team went unbeaten four years in a row, and later worked with Yamaha on engine performance for two generations of watercraft. Those improvements are still in use today.
He started at 13, preparing moped engines he was not yet allowed to ride, then moved into motorcycle and watercraft competition. He has won World and European titles with riders including Brice Lopez, Jean-Bruno Pastorello and Valentin Dardillat, and has dozens of solutions to his name used in competition and mass production.
He has also contributed to big-wave surfing, working with World Surf League big-wave surfers such as Sébastien Saint-Jean, Gautier Garanx, Joan Duru and Peyo Lizarazu.
